Kementerian Hal Ehwal Sabah dan Sarawak
This ministry handles federal policies and programmes affecting the two Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak. It coordinates inter-governmental relations between the federal government and state administrations, oversees implementation of federal development initiatives, and addresses issues unique to East Malaysia's constitutional position and development needs. The ministry facilitates federal-state cooperation through regular consultations, manages federal grants and development projects for both states, and provides liaison services between federal agencies and state governments. It also supports initiatives in areas such as infrastructure, education, and economic development that fall under federal jurisdiction while requiring state-level coordination. Current focus areas include accelerating economic growth in East Malaysia, improving connectivity and digital infrastructure, and ensuring effective implementation of federal programmes in line with the Malaysia Agreement 1963. The ministry works to balance federal oversight with the constitutional autonomy of Sabah and Sarawak as outlined in the Malaysian Constitution.
