Kementerian Hal Ehwal Agama
Malaysia's religious affairs portfolio oversees the administration and development of Islamic matters at the federal level, working alongside state Islamic authorities. It manages policy frameworks for Islamic education, the Islamic court system, halal certification, and Quranic studies, while also promoting interfaith dialogue and religious harmony across the country. The ministry operates through several key departments, including the Islamic Development Department (JAKIM), which handles halal certification and Islamic standards, and the Department of Islamic Education (JPN), which oversees Islamic schools and curriculum. It also manages federal Islamic institutions, provides support to mosques and Islamic organizations, and coordinates with state religious councils on matters affecting Muslims nationwide. Current priorities include strengthening Islamic higher education, enhancing the halal industry's international competitiveness, and promoting religious tolerance and understanding among Malaysia's diverse faith communities. The ministry also works on updating Islamic jurisprudence to address contemporary issues while maintaining religious principles.
